Volunteering

The Wasatch 100 is very fortunate to have a great group of volunteers.  Some of our volunteers serve as aid station captains and are in charge of organizing their aid station. Most volunteers are at various aid stations helping take care of runners as they arrive. We also have runners who volunteer to serve as sweeps along the course.  In addition we have volunteers who are ham radio operators who provide communications between each aid station and the finish line.  If you are interested in being involved please email us at:

This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Your note will be forwarded to the appropriate race committee member who will contact you and discuss volunteer options.

TRANSPORTATION BACK TO DOWNTOWN SALT LAKE AFTER THE RACE

We do not have a bus going back to SLC after the race but we do have two shuttle vans.  The vans are in service throughout the race to help get added supplies to aid stations if needed, pick up runners who have DNF'd and handle emergencies.  They are also available to take a limited number of runners back to downtown Salt Lake after the awards ceremony.  They are mini-vans so each can hold about 5 runners max. So far that has been enough....probably because we always advise runners to have a plan B....or perhaps to rely on the shuttles as their plan B.  There are always any number of runners heading back to Salt Lake after the awards who are willing to give rides to runners who do not have transportation.  At the runners meeting the Thursday before the race we always ask how many runners might need a ride back to SLC after the race as well as how many runners would be able to offer rides.  We ask them to get together right there after the meeting and make arrangements.  So far this has worked out well.

Lodging Information

The following links will take you to the respective Chamber of Commerce pages with available lodging. In Salt Lake City you will need to scroll down a somewhat lengthy list but any hotel or motel within two or three blocks of 47 West 600 South (location of our buses to the Start Line on race day) will put you in a good position to walk to the bus. You will notice that the Grand America and Little America Hotels are particularly nicely located within easy walking distance. The two buses will leave for the start at 4:00am sharp on race day morning so please be early enough to check in and board the bus. If you check in as you enter the bus you do not need to check in again when you arrive at the start line.

SPECIAL NOTE:  You will generally have plenty of time to negotiate twisting canyon roads.  So, use extra care in your driving habits, especially at night. Let the runners have the speed. Slow Down!

DIRECTIONS TO START LINE

On your right off the freeway you will see a Smith's Food King. Continue along SR-89 about 4 miles to the light at 400 north (that sign also shows 200 north if you are turning left), Kaysville. After turning right at that light, make an immediate left. Stay on this road, initially headed north, as it swings right (East) up the mountain past the Davis County Public Works building (650 North and 1400 East), and then the Davis County Animal Control Building. The East Mountain Wilderness Park appears on the left just below the shooting range. The park is about 1/2 mile east of highway 89. The actual address is either 1591 or 1588 E. 650 N., Kaysville, UT. depending on the source you check.

FROM OGDEN AND POINTS NORTH: Take exit 328 and continue east until the stop light. Turn left and immediately left again to wind up to the start line.
