Trails

It will take runners 2.5 to 4 hours to go from Pole Line Pass to Pot Bottom, bottom of Pot Hollow Canyon (mile 83.39 to 93.13). The Pot Bottom aid station will have water, food, and electrolyte drinks. The trail from Pole Line is at times difficult footing because of rocks, roots, and brush on the trail. The trail becomes quite steep in a few stretches and the altitude hovers around 9600 feet much of the time. The ascent from Rock Springs, mile 87.39, to Stephens Point/Serenity Point (87.82) is a little bit of Heaven and has a stunning view to the east, west and south. The trail sections called the Dive and the Plunge are tricky and tiring. Save some quads for this section. Water is usually available at Rock Springs, and will be available at the Rock Springs Aid Station on race weekend, but for training runs you may want to double your usual water for this section in case it becomes unavailable. There will be no crew access to this section.
