Length = 18.60 miles

Starts at 4880 feet & finishes at 7500 feet

Ascent 6312 Feet Descent 3750 Feet

2/3 Trail + 1/3 Dirt Road

Begins at East Mountain Wilderness Park just past their gate and runs 0.4 miles on dirt road until it climbs onto the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. Completion time for this section is 3 1/2 to 6 hours.The maintenance shed at the end of this section has food, water, electrolyte drinks and Drop Bag Station. After a few miles of good trails, this section has rough footing, thick brush, very steep climbs, lose rocks on the Chinscraper climb, hard to follow trails, and limited sources of water. Cool Springs comes up at mile 8.93 prior to Chinscraper and Landis Springs is at 10.58. A vehicle at Grobbens Corner will supply a limited amount of water at mile 13.35. Runners generally get themselves into trouble in this section by going out too fast and waiting until they get thirsty before starting to drink fluids. FARMINGTON CANYON ROAD IS CLOSED FOR AN INDEFINITE PERIOD OF TIME SO THERE IS NO CREW ACCESS AT THE FRANCIS PEAK AID STATION.  Runners arrive at the finish of this section from the north and leave going southeast on a road to Farmington Flats. Parking is along the main gravel road below the aid station. Access to the maintenance shed is up Farmington Canyon (100 East 600 North) from the town of Farmington. The 9 mile road is narrow, rocky and bumpy at times, and hazardous (may cause vertigo). Don't get in a hurry driving these switchbacks.
